Little is very alert for someone who has only just turned two months. She has been trying to hold her head up from birth and we haven’t had to support her head for a few weeks now unless she’s tired. Sometimes I think she gets bored when we sit in the flat all day so I’ve been thinking of activities that are suitable. We try to get out as much as possible but the weather hasn’t been very pleasant.
Some activities she seems to enjoy for a while are:
Sometimes I just make songs up about what I’ve just done or something I plan on doing. With the right facial expressions she gets very excited!
About anything really. Mainly telling her how beautiful she is and how much I love her. I also tend to ask her opinion on everything from what we should have for dinner, where we should go or what I should wear. If someone was to look in they would probably think I was mad.
Now that she’s getting older she enjoys her bouncer a lot more. We were considering giving it away as we only have a one bedroom flat (so space is limited) but now she enjoys hitting the toys and kicking her legs about!
Every so often I read her a story. Our favourite at the moment is ‘Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes’. We count her fingers and toes!
Watching herself on video
I record a lot of videos of her and she loves chatting back to them. I think its the movements and colour that attract her.
I am constantly looking for new activities to keep Little entertained. I’m currently making her a toy so do keep checking back to see the finished product!
There are a few other activities I am going to try:
Playing peek-a-boo with a lightweight scarf. Throw it in the air and allow it to land on her head before quickly removing it.
Singing songs and adding her name into them. My Nana always used to sing ‘Nana’s little baby’ and change Nana to names of the family! I am going to sing this to her.
Using a kitchen roll tube to speak quietly into one ear and then the other.
