When you are handed this helpless, innocent being you automatically go into overdrive. You are so consumed with love that you would do anything to nurture and protect your baby! I’ve never really had any big fears. Certain things, like sickness, set my anxiety off but nothing gets my heart racing like the fears I have surrounding my children!
What if someone breaks into our home?
I have this fear that someone will break into our home and I won’t hear them. Little is in her own room and I can’t bare the thought of her being scared alone! I remember after James’ parents house was broken into I actually got Little out of bed and brought her in with me! When we eventually buy a house I will be fitting it with a Panasonic Home Security Camera.
What if something happens to me?
Another of my fears is that something might happen to me whilst I’m home alone with the girls. I often have this vision of me falling and hitting my head! What would happen to the girls? They wouldn’t understand why Mummy isn’t responding! I plan to teach Little all about where to go and what to do if anything ever happens, but I’m waiting for the right time so I don’t scare her.
What if a fire spread and I couldn’t get to the girls?
Obviously I would walk through fire to get to them. But what if I couldn’t? It is so important to have fire alarms fitted in your home and ensure they are well maintained and replaced every 10 years. The Fire Service has some very handy advice on what precautions you can take to prevent fires in the home.
What if they get bullied?
The world can be a cruel place and I know first hand what it is like to be bullied! With technology coming on like it has it has opened up a new vulnerability to cyberbullying. This is something I will do my upmost to protect my girls against!
Are they happy?
It is my biggest hope and one of my biggest fears. I often ask Little “are you happy?” and although she always says yes it doesn’t stop the doubt! So I just try my upmost everyday!
