Starting A New Chapter

So you may or may not have read on my twitter that as of the 30th March I am no longer a Stay at home Mum.. I am a working Mum!

Eeeeeek I am so blimmin excited but in the same breath absolutely terrified.

I have been putting it off for months now always finding enough negatives to outweigh the positives but I know it is something I would have to do eventually. And by keep putting it off I was actually making it harder for myself to take that step.

It has been over a year since I have actually worked and I have had many moments when I’ve panicked thinking I’m not up to it. Especially because I am completely retraining but I have to bite the bullet and try. I have absolutely loved every second of the year I have spent at home with Scarlett but I feel I need to find myself again.

As I will be working almost full time Scarlett will be going to Nursery. I am so excited for her because I think she will thrive. She loves to be around other children and is such a sociable girl! Unfortunately the Nursery I really really really want cannot fit her in for the hours I want until 20th April :(! I looked around other Nursery’s and they just weren’t the same. So Mum to the rescue! The Nursery can fit her in for 2 mornings from the 6th April so my Mum is filling in until the 20th where she can also do 1 full day.

So from now I must get organised because the new girl cannot be late!

Did you go back to your previous job after maternity leave or did you chose to take a completely different path?!

  1. Great post, I had my first baby back in 2003 and have been a Stay at Home Mum ever since!! I guess we've been lucky that financially I haven't needed to go back to work but I completely understand when you say you need to find yourself again. It's easy to become totally swallowed up by being a mum/wife/housekeeper etc. This is why I love blogging though, it allows me to express myself in my own way!

Good luck on your new path 🙂

  2. After having LP I had 15 months off work, 12 months as maternity leave and 12 weeks of annual leave – 6 weeks each side of my maternity leave. I went back to my same full time job but by that point I was pregnant with Little Man. I again had the same 15 months off but then went back part time. I've been back 9 months now and the time has flown by x
