Bedtime is my favourite time of the day, for both the girls and I. It’s the time we cuddle and talk about our day and it means I’m one step closer to sleep! When I was a teenager I barely slept. It wasn’t until I got my first full time job that I actually appreciated sleep. Now that I am a parent I need all the sleep I can get!
I do not cope very well with little sleep so I totally sympathise with the lovely Hannah from Hi Baby. Hannah tagged me to answer 10 questions about my bedtime routine.
Describe your usual bedtime routine.
Not a bedtime routine as such but I do always shower before bed. I have this thing about it so I even make James shower before he’s allowed to come to bed! Some nights I will read a book, others I will scroll through my phone. If I’m super tired I will just fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow!
What are your favourite pyjamas?
Any pyjamas. I probably own more pairs than I do clothes. If I could wear them all day every day I so would! The comfier and bigger the better!
What is your current bedtime reading?
I am currently reading Happy Mum Happy Baby by Giovanna Fletcher. It is such an easy read with no sugar coating that you’d expect with a parenting book!
What would I find on your bedside table?
Right now? My book, fitbit, makeup wipes (shh I did not just admit to that!), baby monitor and a drink! I cannot go to bed without a drink.
What scent makes you sleepy?
I’ve never been one to use scents to go to sleep if I’m honest. I’m quite lucky that I need no help getting to sleep. Although fresh air has a knock out effect for me!
What is your usual bedtime and wake up time?
I aim to be asleep by 11pm every night as the girls have me up anything from 6am onwards. But its currently 10:30pm and I’m up writing. So doubt that will happen tonight!
What are you top three bedtime products?
A drink. I cannot go to bed without a drink!
Comfy pillows. Can’t be having no pancake pillows.
Something that tells the time! I need to know the time before I go to sleep or if I wake in the night.
What is your most common sleeping position?
My Mum has always commented about the way I sleep. Imagine you dropped a human from a great height. Yeah thats pretty much it. James is forever waking me up when he comes to bed because I’m spread over the whole bed! But since having the girls I always have to fall asleep half on my side and half on my tummy.
Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?
Sometimes if I’m feeling sad I will take one of the girls muslins to bed with me. There isn’t much room for anything else with ol’ spaghetti sleeper over here!
What is your worst bedtime habit?
Sitting up on my laptop when I should be asleep.. like I am doing right now!
So there you have it. My bedtime routine. Now I should be getting to bed 😉
