Christmas is over for another year and what an exhausting few days it is. The tree is down and normal service has been resumed! This year was the first year we hosted Christmas so I’m no pro but there are certainly things I have learnt this year.
It is just a day
Ok so it may just be Christmas Day but it still is only one day. I spent over £100 on food for ONE DAY! I don’t normally spend that a week. We only had two extra mouths to feed. I’m going to be eating leftovers until 2017! So next year I will be buying what we need not what I think we should have!
Buying early doesn’t necessarily save you money
Unless you remember everything of course. I started shopping early this year in a bid to spread the cost as we all know Maternity Allowance doesn’t stretch very far! However I kept forgetting what I had already brought so probably ended up spending more. So next year I will save money in the run up instead of shopping early!
It doesn’t matter how many presents are under the tree
I always feel that prang of guilt when I see the amount of presents under others’ trees. When actually the quantity does not matter nor does how much you’ve spent! Little appreciated every single one of her presents regardless of cost or size. Christmas is about so much more than the presents.
Family means everything
I think next year we may go out for dinner so less of the focus is on getting everything perfect and just enjoying our time with the girls! Although we spent all day with them I feel like I barely saw them..
It is my day too
I spend so much of the year doing things for others and Christmas is no exception. From now on I am going to enjoy the day too.
