It’s been a few weeks since my Baby L turned a year old. I thought it was about time I wrote about her unicorn themed party! Now I know they are legendary creatures but my mind was whirling with so many lovely ideas. Plus why not inject a bit of magic into an already magical occasion?
I didn’t want to go to mad with unicorns because I didn’t want it to look too much. So I picked a colour palette of pastel colours (but more so pinks and golds) and incorporated a few unicorn touches!
As Baby L is our second child I felt like I needed to keep things fair. Little S had a birthday party at home for her 1st birthday, a personalised vest and a cake made professionally. So this is exactly what we did for Baby L, except my Mum kindly let us have it at her house as families have expanded and we just don’t have the room!
I found a lovely lady on Facebook, gave her a brief and I am so happy with what she came up with! It was exactly how I imagined it. It was even rainbow inside and tasted delicious.
Instead of filling party bags with toot that parents don’t want around their house, I made little sweetie bags complete with rainbow drops, rainbow belts and pink & white marshmallows! I simply bought popcorn boxes, stuffed them with tissue paper, added a few sweets in the top and glued some rainbow ribbon as a handle. The only thing I didn’t think of was how said parents would get their boxes home without the sweets going absolutely everywherrrreeeeee..
Also to keep in with the pastel coloured theme I made some cupcakes and popped a party ring on top! I really enjoy baking and parties give me the perfect excuse.
We were really lucky with the weather so a lot of the party was spent outside. I found some very subtle unicorn party plates and cups from Asda and my Mum got these super cool inflatable cup holders (although I’m not sure where from!).
In keeping with the pink and gold, I got this Happy Birthday banner from eBay by typing pink and gold party decorations.
When I get an idea in my head I am often left feeling disappointed but with all the decorations pulled together I think we did the unicorn party theme justice!
And here is Baby L’s party outfit (complete with a sausage being consumed!!). I got her personalised vest from Miss Boos Boutique, her bow from Miss Maeve’s Bowtique and the tutu was the exact same one Little S wore on her first birthday!
