Blogmas – Why I’m Not Taking Part

I absolutely love reading others posts for Blogmas. So why am I not taking part?

I’m not taking part for a number of reasons.

Number 1 being that I’m just not exciting enough. Who would want to read what I have to say everyday in December? I’m sure they would rather be out Christmas shopping or drinking Costa coffee!

Blogmas would take a lot of planning, organising and plugging. I cannot commit to such things. I struggle to find the time to toilet these days! Once the children are in bed is when I sit down to blog. I am normally up until midnight and I don’t even plug that much. That is with uploading 2 to 3 posts a week. I can’t even imagine uploading everyday and the time it would take!

I once triedΒ BEDAΒ (Blog Every Day in August) and by day 18 I had given up. The content of my blog really slipped and I forgot the reason I started blogging in the first place. My blog is like a diary of my family life where we can look back in years to come.

My posts are written as and when I get a brain wave (which is usually as I lay in bed)! I don’t want to be uploading just for the sake of uploading. I’m not saying that is what others do but this is exactly what I would be doing!

Life can get a bit samey as it is. I would rather spend nap times planning activities to do or catching up on housework so I canΒ fully be with my children when they’re awake. I’m struggling to stay afloat as it is!

I don’t want to miss out on moments like this!

This is not to say I won’t be reading other peoples posts. I really enjoy reading about/watching peoples lives. Everyone needs that moment away from their own – don’t they?!

Are you taking part in blogmas this year? I’d love to hear why you are/aren’t.

I never knew Blog as existed! I’ve heard of Vlogmas – wish I had known I may have tried to make an effort to join it, but I think like you, I may have found it difficult to keep up with it especially being pregnant on top of my 2 little lads! Maybe next year when our two are that bit older? X

Yeah you don’t need any extra pressure lovely. You need to be winding down πŸ™‚ ox

I will try my hardest to take part in blogmas, but if I miss days then that’s OK. I do have a two year old toddler and life gets crazy! I do love watching vlogmas while I do chores etc! But I do like your idea of Christmas shopping and a costa!

Costa wins everytime πŸ˜‰ If you manage to keep up than thats amazing with a toddler in tow. I know how hectic they can be! ox

I won’t be taking part either, I don’t like reading this kind of thing to be honest, so I wouldn’t enjoy writing it either. I hate feeling as though I HAVE to post something, that’s usually when I post something that isn’t up to my usual standard. I much prefer to blog as and when I want to, especially on the days when we really have nothing at all to share! #thatfridaylinky

Totally agree. I would love to have an exciting enough life to blog about it everyday πŸ˜‰ ox

I’m with you on this one – I try to post 3 times a week and it takes up sooo much time. I can’t even contemplate posting every day! Plus, there are so many extra things going on in December in family life (parties, school plays, concerts, fayres, etc) – I love those things and I wouldn’t want to miss out on them for the sake of my blog. #TheListLinky

P.S. Such a cute photo of your two little ones!

You’re so right! I don’t want to miss those special memories in order for a blog post. Thank you ox

That photo is precious πŸ™‚ I like your thought about being fully with your children when they are awake. Am working on that!

I think we are all guilty of not spending as much time on them as we would like! I know I am.. But like you I am working on it πŸ™‚ ox

Exactly! This blog is my place to document my life with them and how can I do that if I’m not living it with them?! ox

  7. December 6, 2016 / 1:34 pm

I love how honest this post is. Although some see it as a fun challenge to blog everyday, you’re entirely right – forcing yourself to blog so much can easily make the standard of your writing slip, especially as it’s not natural!

Yeah and it probably appeals to PRs but I just cannot commit! Thank you ox

  8. December 6, 2016 / 2:31 pm

Like you I just can’t make that commitment. I’m pretty close to blogging daily purely because I have a lot on, but wouldn’t want the added pressure.

Oh go you! I sometimes don’t blog for days. By the time the girls are in bed I’m ready for bed myself haha πŸ™‚ ox

  9. December 6, 2016 / 3:10 pm

I think taking part in something like this puts immense pressure on people and while I don’t do blogmas as such I generally post almost every day anyway x

Wow go you! I take my hats off to those who post everyday πŸ™‚ ox

      I know. I don’t even manage 3 a week! I’m a rubbish blogger haha ox

  11. December 6, 2016 / 9:21 pm

I love your honesty. I don’t join in with these things as I find I run out of steam to be honest. I love catching up with other peoples posts though

I’m exactly the same! You never know I may one day be organised enough πŸ˜‰ ox

  12. December 6, 2016 / 9:24 pm

I’m taking part in blogmas, it’s a shame your not but your reasons are good ones! Sometimes other things such as family needs to come first! xo

      December 7, 2016 / 2:57 am

I really enjoy reading others posts though and think it’s a great idea if you can fully commit ox

  13. December 7, 2016 / 7:37 pm

Like a few others have said, I’ve not heard of blogmas before, but I’m assuming it’s the same as vlogmas in that you blog/vlog every day? I pretty much do that anyway, but do have the odd weekend with no new posts on. It certainly takes up a lot of time! Thanks for linking up to That Friday Linky! Sorry the comment is a bit late

I know and they are growing so quickly so I don’t want to miss a thing! ox

  15. December 8, 2016 / 2:41 pm

I’m other doing blogmas as quite frankly I can’t be arsed. I have so much going on with the kids and school and plays and events that need organising that Blogging is only done when I have the time and something to write about. I salute anyone that blogs every day.

Me too! I’d have to invent a time machine to fit in blogging everyday aha! ox

  16. December 8, 2016 / 9:52 pm

I couldn’t commit to blogging everyday – there simply aren’t enough hours in the day! #thelistlinky
