Buying A Cot Mattress & What You Need To Look For*

I found buying a cot mattress the most stressful of tasks. Please tell me I am not alone! I spent countless hours researching online but to no avail! Even my Mum (who knows everything by the way) couldn’t actually give me a definitive answer. So I had to go it alone.

Poor Baby had been sleeping on a mattress that had actually been Little’s. So to say it had seen better days would be a slight understatement! That was until Kiddie’s Kingdom contacted me and asked if I would like to review something from their site. They have a huge range of cot mattresses and you can filter your search based on what it is you are after.

Although I didn’t get an actual answer from good old google I did learn that as long as the cot mattress is firm not soft, fits the cot and doesn’t sag – I should be all good to go!

So now it was just down to me working out exactly what I wanted from a mattress. I decided to go for a pocket sprung mattress because.. well we have one ourselves (not in cot size obviously!) and its so comfortable. After safety of course comfort was my top priority!

What I love most about this mattress is how thick and cushioned it is. Even when I’ve had to climb into the cot to fetch a wayward dummy all I can feel is padding! This mattress includes a topper pad which gives them extra comfort and lets their body heat disperse across the whole mattress ensuring the don’t overheat.

We also chose a non-allergenic cot mattress because James had asthma as a child and it makes it so much easier to keep clean. The cover is zipped around three sides of the mattress so it honestly is so easy to remove. I haven’t washed it yet but it can be washed up to 60 C to kill any dust mites.

It’s a massive winner in my eyes and would highly recommend it!

The cot mattress retails at £65.95^ which I wouldn’t think twice about spending on a high quality mattress. Kiddie’s Kingdom also offer free delivery on the mattress dependent on your postcode!

^price correct as of Friday 11th August 2017.

So if you’re on the hunt for a new cot mattress for your little one I definitely think you should look here.

I found it so hard buying mattresses for the kids! Toby then went into a single bed when Martha needed the cot bed, but as she’s our last baby we’ll be able to just keep using her for as a bed until she’s quite a lot older thankfully!xx

We recently had the same dilemma. I went for something similar and due to the endless reflux in our house, the cover has already been washed a number of times, so that’s a must for us. Hope she sleeps well in there xx

I bought a non-allergic cot mattress too just in case. I love that they can be popped in the washing mashine if needs be.

You’re right it is stressful as there’s so much choice. I had to get one specially made for my toddlers Boori cot bed as they’re a non standard shape! The drama.

I’m so glad you put this post up, I’m on the lookout for a new cot bed mattress as we had bought one from Amazon and it honestly feels like H is lying on bricks! He’s in a nest at the minute so it’s not as much of a problem but I’m on the hunt for a good one!
