A few Saturday’s ago now we got up bright and early and headed to London Zoo to celebrate the launch of the Dear Zoo trail. We were kindly invited along by Milly & Flynn to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the childhood classic book written by Rod Campbell. Their range of Dear Zoo toys are currently being sold in the shop.
Not only were we one of the first people to follow the trail but we also got to meet Rod Campbell and hear him read the story himself!
On arrival we headed straight to the interactive story hub, wrapped in a red ribbon waiting to be officially opened. It was here that we sat and listened to Rod read his own story. Little was memorised and I have to admit I quite enjoyed it myself. We then queued to have our copy signed by Rod Campbell so the girls can keep it forever!
Little really enjoyed finding real life versions of the animals from the book and stamping her card was the icing on the cake. The Elephants are currently at ZSL Whipsnade so our trail card came already stamped with an Elephant.
The giraffes were too tall just like in the book but the lions didn’t look too fierce as they sat soaking up the sunshine.
Despite losing our card at some point whilst exploring the zoo, Little continued to get the stamps just on her hands instead! I haven’t been to London Zoo for quite a few years so it was nice to discover it all over again.
The Dear Zoo trail is at London Zoo until the 17th April and then Whipsnade Zoo from the 27th May.
I would highly recommend a visit as it is such a fun filled day for all the family. Even L enjoyed her day at only 6 months old!
