How I Ensure A Good Nights Sleep*

As a parent I rely on a good nights sleep to help me survive the day with two little girls keeping me on my toes. So for this reason, I am excited to be on board with the Bed Guru #NestGuru campaign.

A little bit about Bed Guru before I spill all my secrets on achieving a good nights sleep! Bed Guru are an online bed retailer who are sleep specialists. They understand that no two people have the same requirements when it comes to getting a good nights sleep.

Bed Guru have such a huge range of mattresses. Some I hadn’t even heard of before, including a couples mattress! Now I’ve done my research on mattresses because for me it is the most important product in my bedroom.

So how do I ensure a good nights sleep I hear you ask?

As I mentioned above, the mattress is the most important thing if you ask me. I have a firm pocket sprung mattress as when I sleep I need to feel supported due to back problems. When we first moved in together James brought his memory foam mattress and it was so uncomfortable! We’d forever just end up sunk in the middle of the bed and I like to sleep facing the other way on the other side of the bed. Romantic hey? So I chose a pocket sprung mattress because each spring works independently, meaning I can toss and turn all night (I’m not the stillest of sleepers) and I’ll still be supported!

The second most important thing for me is the pillow. Being a side sleeper, again I like a firm pillow. I want the pillow to hug my head but keep my body in the position I put it in! You don’t want to be waking up with a bad shoulder now do you?how to achieve a good nights sleep

And last but in no way least, it is all about bedtime routine! I come to bed about 20-30 minutes before I actually want to go to sleep and spend some down time. Either reading a book or scrolling through Instagram! Then I’ll switch off my bedside lamp, roll onto my left side, slide my arm under my pillow and close my eyes. Then thats it, I’m out for the night!

So what I want to know is: how do you achieve a good nights sleep?

    Obviously mattress is an important factor to get a good night sleep. But there are some other sleeping factors such as turn off all lights and electronic devices, take a little workout/exercise, do not eat more at night, take a bath if possible, keep your room temperature normal (not hot/not cold), use better pillow and clean bed sheet.
