Little’s Naming Day

Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of blog posts lately. But I do have quite a valid excuse! I have been busy planning a special day for my beautiful princess… eeeeeek!!

For those of you who don’t know what a Naming Ceremony is it is basically a way to thank God for the birth of a child if you choose not to baptise them.

We decided to have a naming ceremony for a few reasons. The first was because I was never Christened due to family circumstance and James’ family are catholic – we wanted to give Little the choice to practice whatever religion she may choose. Secondly we didn’t feel that many people in Little’s life deserved the title of Godparent!

Here are just a few photo’s from the service before we get the professional ones back!

We held the reception in the church hall as it saved all the to-ing and fro-ing. We put on a little spread and it was a chance for us all to spend time together. I’m all about adding little personalised touches so that is just what I did – with the help of my Mum and friend Jay.

From top left to bottom right:

Baby jars decoupaged with napkins to hold the cutlery.
Bunting is from Amazon and Naming Day confetti from So Raise Your Glass.
A Christening guest book I found on eBay that we had personalised.
Food labels that I made myself from cocktail sticks, pink card and glitter.
Little’s cake that we had made at Costco.
Sweet bag favours from Amazon and personalised Thank You stickers from The Favour Factory.
Table clothes are just plain pink from Amazon.
A photo of Little every month since she was born.
We had an absolutely amazing day filled with all the people we love (plus a few strays – but that is a whole different story!!) and Little was a diamond. A whole day without a nap and not even a moan. She thoroughly enjoyed being center of attention and was showered with so many lovely gifts.
Little we hope your day was as special as you! You continue to make us so proud – I hope we repaid the favour.
This is just a little snippet of Little’s day but I wanted to share it with you all.
My outfit is from River Island.
Little’s personalised bib is from Ebay.
Naming Day balloons from Amazon and Princess balloons from a shop called iCandy.

Aww she looks so cute! Glad you had a lovely day! I really wish I had done this for mine. Neither are Christened and I never really knew what a naming day was- I didn't realise it was official.
I didn't know the church did them, I thought churches only did christenings and that registrars did naming days so I have learnt something new!!
